CHILE: Central bank cuts growth forecast

The Banco Central de Chile cut its GDP growth forecast for 2006 from a range of between 5% and 7% to a range of between 5.25% and 4.75%. Until May, the central bank had been forecasting growth of between 6.25% and 5.25%. For 2007 the central bank is forecasting growth of between 5.25% and 6.25%. The IMF, in its World Economic Outlook, is more bullish: it is forecasting 5.2% growth in 2006 and 5.5% growth in 2007.
